“Come and take a seat, my fine people!. And hear this old sod spew some of his tales!” The entertainer exclaims to you, swinging his mug in the air in good ‘ol jollyness.
“Hope you aren’t tired of me talking about wizards and witches, because i’ve got another one for you today!. And this one is a spicy one~ hahah!”
“You all remember Anastasia right?. The self proclaimed warlord of magic, and leader of the conclave of cosmos. Well, the one i’m about to tell you a bit about, is one of their more ‘Problematic’ members out of the bunch… mostly because they like to set things on fire”
—
Evelin Rallus Grillen. High born dragonfolk, lots of grand expectations on their shoulders, once they were born, and overall problematic problem child the moment she learned how to walk.
In her young years she did nothing but act like a spoiled little gremlin, running about pulling all manner of tricks and minor evil doings on staff and ‘low folk’ alike. Bullying the shit out of the other kids with her crew of like minded gremlins, and the list goes on.
And the thing was that no one dared to lift a finger at her, since her parents and family were one of the high ones. So if someone were to do something to her, even the tiniest little thing, their whole livelihood, and life, would just get thrown out the window, and they would be walking somberly towards their unjust execution, just because they gave the little shit a bobo.
Tho, that's not to say that she didn’t get a few ‘disciplinary’ punishments from her parents, when ever she stepped out of line, which on the contrary, both didn’t work all that much, and made her hate her overall ‘caged’ life more and more with each ‘lesson’.
Oh, and just to get back to the point, don’t get me started on how worse she got once she went to the wizard school, and learned her affinity for pyromancy. At first, she would just set off small fires, or just incinerate some of her classmate's books. But then, later down the road, she would half scorch some of them half to death!, on top of beating them to a pulp before that!. even got into a few scuffles with some of the teachers, which she promptly lost of course, but the fact that she had the balls for it, or in this case i guess, the ‘tits’ for it, is just madness!.
It got so bad in fact, she was permanently expelled from the school down the road of her young adult years!. Hell, she was even threatened to be shot on sight, if she were to show her face at ANY of the schools again!.
And the thing is, believe it or not, she was HAPPY to be expelled from the schools!. She found all their teachings and rules to be too restrictive and worthless for someone like her, who wants to expand upon their given magic affinity.
She got even more ecstatic about flipping off her stuck up family as she went her own way, leaving all of their prestigious and social drama behind, and sought new heights to further her own might.
She thought herself probably equipped to journey out into the big wide world on her own, and she was right… well… partially anyways.
At first, it was a little rocky for her, got into a fight with a bunch of goblins, which she won, but at the expense of her coin purse. Which then later down the road resulted in her sucking up her pride for a moment, to pay a ship captain through ‘alternative’ means, if you get what I mean…
But, once she made landfall on lands far from her home two weeks later, that was when her new life, and infamy, began.
At first, she took a few assignments here and there, mainly ones that involved a more aggressive approach, like hunting wolves, or dealing with a few goblin infestations. Which, might I add, she took a more sadistic pleasure in burning to a fine crisp… They did steal her money once, sooo… Fair… I guess??.
Anyways!. She did your usual newbie adventurer side jobs and what have you, for a good few years or soo. Even tagged along on a few groups, though she didn’t really make any pals with any of the ones she battled together with. Either she did most if not all the heavy lifting when it came to dealing with the enemies, which made her crew feel a bit useless and left out. Or she would get into a bit of a heated argument with her, at the time, crew about a myriad of different things, which would result in the one she was arguing with, getting a bit singed, before she herself would ditch said crew in anger.
Or, from what few things i’ve been told, she would at times 'accidentally’ team kill her whole squad… Via use of high level fireballs… Inside tight areas… Did I forget to mention she doesn’t really care for other people’s well being?.
Well, this bad behavior of hers, made her so infamous in fact, almost ALL the other adventurers gave her a wide berth whenever they looked for new people to join their teams. The only ones that dared to even tag her along were either those that had somewhat the same mindset and demeanor as herself, or the VERY desperate, who were in dire need of a mage.
But this infamy was also a big boon for her pay wise, because, aside from her attitude and social problems, she had proven to be VERY efficient and potent, when dealing with monsters, especially horde based ones. This fact had made her a very sought after asset for certain groups, who’s whole job was to deal with these sorts of horde problems.
One day however, she was hired by a few ‘shady’ individuals, to go out and deal with a rather large undead situation that had just appeared in a small town down south, to which she took said assignment with glee, as she had just learned a new kind of fireball spell at the time, and REALLY wanted to try it out on something.
However, once she reached this location she was told to go to, she saw not a single hair or bone of any zombies or ghouls.
She was confused for a moment, and decided to investigate the area. But then, she half screamed in pain, when an arrow pierced her shoulder from out of nowhere, then followed quickly up by a bunch of religious looking knights, storming out from the abandoned buildings and the like, surrounding the wounded fire mage.
Turns out that she was led into a trap, by some secret cabal of knights, who, from what little i could get my hands on, deals with magic wielders, that to them is a threat to the world as we know it. I’m still looking into their whole stick, but their lore just keeps eluding me…
Anyways, Evalin was wounded, but that didn’t mean she was gonna go down without a fight. She torched a good handful of the fools, while managing to also incinerate any incoming arrows, right as they were about to pierce her hide. But, as powerful as she was, her mana was not infinite, and after a certain point, she was running out of steam.
One of the knights managed to run up behind her in her exhausted state, and rake their sword down her back, making her scream out in pain, before she would retaliate by point blanking said knight’s face with a fireball, blasting her across the town, until she crashed into a wall.
Now sitting up against the wall, chest heaving for air, mana depleted, one arm out of the game, and also bleeding out, all she could do was watch as her ambushers approached her, weapons drawn and ready to hak her into bloody pieces.
She thought her end was ney, but then, as if by divine intervention, bolts of arcane energy surged forth from the sideline, obliterating the knights one by one into dust. Those who tried to flee were struck by a volley of thunderbolts, while those who tried to engage the new enemy were lifted up into the air, before getting crushed into bloody balls of meat and metal.
Evalin, losing the amount of blood that she is, tried to comprehend what was happening. But right as her world went dark, she saw the blurry form of a regal looking dragoness come her way.
When she came back to the land of the living, she found herself half naked in a big tent, bandages covering portions of her body, and the nose pinching stench of medicinal ingredients.
While she was still coming to grips with what had happened, and where she was, she received quite a spoke when the dragoness from before, appeared out of nowhere beside her bed, looking down at her with a calm and calculated look on their face.
But now that Evalin has a better look at her presumed savior, her heart sank slightly as she realized who they were, and they were none other than Anastasia, the warlord of magic.
Just to skip over all the small banter and what have you, the warlord offered her a choice. She could chose to leave and go back to her usual day to day stick, with the caviart that her memory of them meeting gets erased from her noggin. Or, she could join Anastasia’s group of wizards and witches, and learn things that would regularly be beyond her reach.
After a little bit of thinking, she of course took the black dragoness up on their offer, earning them a small smile from the stoic leader of ‘rough’ mages.
Now, one would think that she would tone her impulsive behaviors down a notch, now that she works for a ‘Warlord’ of all people. But sadly, no…
She does get into a few fights with her fellow mages, but thankfully it doesn’t end in a death match… MOST of the time. She has learned to keep her temper and attitude in check somewhat, mostly thanks to Anastasia ‘motivating’ her to show her fellow witch and wizard some respect. But old habits die hard, so a few demeaning undertones do slip out from her lips from time to time.
—
“And that's about all there currently is about them” The entertainer finished, grabbing his mug before taking a swig.
“Aahhh… The lass has definitely grown more powerful ever since she joined that little cult of arcane fanatics. Hell, I've even heard that she can conjure miniature suns now!. Tho, it is also said that she has trouble keeping them stable for longer than a minute, so no need to worry about having to dodge the littoral sun for an hour straight, if you were to pick a fight with them…” He explained, tipping his mug towards you.
“But enough about some draconic bitch mage!. You wanna hear about something else with a more ‘lighter’ tone to it?...”
