I found out yesterday by the author of the novella for which I did this illustration that we've both been nominated for Aurora/Boréal awards for our work. I didn't see the publication in which this appeared, but the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association seems to have found it worthy of a nomination. I'm stunned and pleased by this news!

This was done in Flash, which was my tool of choice when I was working on the Gargoyles: Bad Guys comic series. The rendering style is also reminiscent of that. The date on the illustration says I did this in January 2010... which is why there are several things that are bothering me about this picture, and which prove to me that I have improved over the last year plus.

When I read that about your cred, I completely forgot to ask my probably stupid question.
What book was this piece for? I didn't see it mentioned, byut then I sometimes am blind to things right in front of me. And then any mention of Gargoyles sends me off the geek end.
