This isn't really an OC per se, but an NPC from a tabletop game (using the Stars Without Number rulebook) i GM. As part of the rolling for universe creation i rolled "anthropomorphs" and... of course i kept that, but it being a human-centric universe set after the collapse of humanity in the golden age, things needed to be a bit different from "just a furry character uwu".

They're the result of genetic engineering before the collapse, set for the world of Leucip which is teeming with life that's biologically incompatible with base humans. As they were the first fully functional result capable of surviving / colonizing the world, they were dubbed "Alpha's" - Leucippian Alpha. There were later a small number of beta's which were much more human-sized and compatible, but in the chaos after the loss of psionics and related technology (event called the scream) they were left too few and incapable of reproducing longterm, going extinct.
Needless to say i've put a fair amount of thought and worldbuilding into them, especially as this one in particular is directly attached to the player party in the past and upcoming/ongoing mission/story.
Base facts on the alpha's are visible in the art, but here's a few more details:
-Being mixture of human DNA with animal DNA, facial structure common to humans was abandoned entirely. Speech is an active action for them, something they have to practice from a young age; they open their mouth and use their internal organ to form speech. They're not really "capable" of a brainfart or running their mouth; it takes too much effort to form speech, usually with a delay compared to baseline humans. As such, words have a lot more intent behind them.
-They require both "standard" human foods and foods exclusive to Leucip's native biosphere. Not each and every day, but a balance over days / weeks. For that reason (and societal below) it's somewhat rare to see an Alpha away from home; if they can't have the very specific food they'll starve, no matter how much other food is available.
-Historically, they stuck together a lot more than baseline humans after the scream. Major part is that they were both the "ground 0 explorers and builders" and lacked the psionics which killed / rendered insane parts of the baseline human population. Their base instincts is to stick together and form strong bonds with those they care about; this continued in the society built up on Leucip. It's a strongly socialist environment where the government and civilization at large seeks to look after their people.
-They live to around 50 years of age and are an adult at 12. Young Alpha's are -very- energetic and raising them is a fulltime job for both parents.
-They're very large and strong, males being an average of 8 feet (2.44m) tall with females being an average of 7 feet. They're taught from a young age to be responsible with their strength, since a relatively minor action could mortally wound a baseline human.
-They're on average not as intelligent as humans, but being the result of genetic engineering they're in a much tighter range. They will never "outclass" the smartest base humans but the dumbest of base humans would fall beneath their intelligence range.
-They have a very hardy and durable body, with immune system and two hearts. What would be a mortal wound to a base human might be "merely" crippling in the long term. Part of this is their high metabolism; they sleep on average 4 hours and consume more food.
In case anyone is interested... there's a whole lot more i've worked out, the vast majority of which has already been revealed / established to my players. If you have a question, ask and i'll answer.
