Turns out, some fetal rabbits or bunnies are born with cyclopsia. A study done with Idaho sheep farmers in 1957 was trying to understand why some of their sheep were born with one eye. They discovered that when mother ewes ate California corn lilies (veratrum californicum), the digestion process created cyclopamine, a plant steroid alkaloid that encourages cyclopsia.
