The gem used in the empire looks something like this.
Your basic plain and pale gem.

When forced on the victim, the are foced into a slave position.
When willingly taken, said person becomes part of the Empires army.

Depending on what the person did originally, the gem will transform and change shape, bonding with the hosts body.

On the rare occasion there is a fluke, causing the gem to forget to erase the victims freewill.

Said gem can be broken through finding the persons One true weakness, or the Master controller is broken.

The gem will change the persons pesonality to the opposite of what it normally is.

In some-what rare cases the gem will change the eye color of the host.
