This species can pull their primary brain out of the socket in their skull. They have a little secondary brain with some of their motor and sensory stuff and about as many smarts as a dog in the red nodule on their foreheads.
The pouch on their back can hold the primary brain of another of their species, and although it can't control the body, it can sense what the parent body senses and communicate with that body's parent brain. Their young are born very premature, and spend several months inside the back pouch before they're fully developed. When they're newborn, their primary brain can be smushed and they'll grow up without one - just a spare body that can carry out manual chores until someone needs it. The patch of skin under their back flap secrets a sweet nectar that the young ones feed on.
The one on the left is male and the one on the right is female. The one in the middle is a juvenile male.

Thanks. I think it's kind of interesting. For instance you can never be sure who you're talking to even if it looks like the exact same dude. This is one of the few cases where I drew the design first and then came up with the idea. I drew those flappy things on them and thought 'I like these but I want them to have some purpose.' I have no idea why this was the first idea I thought of, or why I thought it was remotely reasonable to roll with it, but here we are.
