Recently I've been wanting to do some more unique sculptures. I've always found Tapirs to be fascinating and adorable creatures, so I thought it would be fun to try and sculpt one. Originally I was planning on doing him in a more simple "cartoony" style, but then I decided I needed more practice on realistic animals(either that or I just felt like punishing myself, that fur texture is so much work!). I spent over a week working off and on with this guy.

He is made with Super Sculpey polymer clay over a wire and foil armature, painted with acrylic paint and sealed with a matte finish. the eyes are glazed for extra shine.
