Elysium Bliss has never had a great talent for making friends. Making enemies, however, came to her very easily - it was like a natural talent.

Over the course of her long, long life she has frequently encountered opponents too powerful even for her; but almost always, the lure of exploiting her powers... or just her body... was too great and she was captured rather than destroyed.

This time was particularly frustrating for her; these shackles and manacles are two parts of a trio of extremely potent magical restraints.
The shackles prevent you from fleeing from the person who placed them on you; the manacles, from acting against even the interests of same. The final piece, the collar, compels you to obey the person who put them on you, and in fact to act in their best interest at all times.
Needless to say, the restraints are as impossible to remove as they are indestructible, as Elysium has realized a few seconds ago.
