During the 1930s, when Havoc and friends debuted, they were all supposed to make more than one or two appearances, but only one of them was scrapped after two shorts. With the cancelled character, Gooner Galoot, his premise was to be a laid-back spotted polecat who only had one quarter of his brain, a lisp, and desires nothing more than food, sleep, and the outdoors. Gooner went through several different looks, including a different color scheme. People thought he was a ferret, mongoose, or some type of weasel. In his short released in 1932, “Fur Coated Gooner” Gooner had a Bugs Bunny type of formula that would follow him being chased by Ms. Mabel, a fancy, snobby rich woman who desires for a beautiful spotted polecat scarf, and accompanied by her henpecked, soft-spoked butler Victor von Vow. In 1934, Gooner was brought back to play a more antagonistic role in the short, “Bacon and Rabbits,” where he would try to catch Jingle Jackrabbit for breakfast without being noticed by her protective friend Noella Numbat.
