Late one evening...
Jaida Corvera, the duelist who had defeated every prince candidate before them, stood atop the arena, gazing out towards the distance. The Rose Bride, Rosalie Takao, walks up beside her destined Prince.
"So... what shall we do now?"
Jaida turns to face their Bride with a smile. "We make for the outside world, Takao-san. A world where we can be free to be who we want to be... plus, the cafeteria here is rather lousy and I'm craving pasta."
The redheaded woman rolls her eyes. "No fancy car washes that turn you into a car and I have to race in?"
"Our tale isn't about letting go. It's about embracing who we truly see ourselves as." Jaida wraps an arm around Rosalie's waist. "Plus, you know how I am about sex and stuff... instead, let's opt for... a romantic walk through the park."
Rosalie relaxes and leans into the gentle embrace of her Prince. "That actually sounds wonderful..."

There are very few anime I absolutely obsess over, and Revolutionary Girl Utena just so happens to be on that list. From its themes of exploring one's gender identity, to grapling with trauma and learning to come to terms with it. It's really deep and made by many of the same people who worked at Toei on Sailor Moon. The movie, Adolescence of Utena, is a fast-paced alternate telling of some of the same themes, with a heavier focus on the "letting go" bit. While I didn't like it at first, looking back, I can honestly see the genius and how beautiful it is, even with all of its confusion powers...
Especially with Rosalie and I dressed as the film's leads.
Thank you
Rosalie Takao for the beautiful gift.
