Shoutout to the maybe dozen other people on this website who know what this is fanart of without needing the below explanation.
To anybody who hasn't had the privilege of playing Battlloon (sic) on Nintendo Switch or Steam though, it's a pretty cheap and extremely adorable indie game that involves playing as anthropomorphic balloon characters in a battle for the crown; attempting to nonviolently bump their opponents into spikes, the combatants lose air as they move around and regularly have to puff themselves up again, with Morphy in particular having quite the determined expression as he gets ready to duel. Being a bat balloon, a batloon if you will, Morphy is by default the best character in the game, with his simple power description being that he can't be stopped; even if he becomes a ghost after dying in multiplayer rounds, he'll still use his improved momentum to go after coins! The game unfortunately doesn't have online multiplayer, but it is really fun to play with local friends and loved ones; it's something that Glass and I have spent entirely too much time exploring to its limits.
Once you do play or at least watch enough of the game, you might start to understand how faithful our wacky expressions in the above transformation drawing are. Even in space or whatever wacky realm we may find ourselves in, and even if it's in the form of batty balloons, my boyfriend and I will stay together no matter what; we can both be kings! We'll just need to make sure to watch out for spikes and other obstacles as we hold onto our crowns...
Made for me as an adorable present for Valentine's Day by Glass, this transformation drawing of his is absolute perfection, so thank you very much to my lovely boyfriend for being so hecking talented and lovely! I'll definitely have to print this and place it near our gaming setup sometime. Additional thanks go toward the development team behind the fun indie game; we're not sure what ultimately happened to them, but we hope that this at least raises awareness of the underrated party title. Perhaps at least one of the former developers can be linked to this someday, whoever they may be; I hope it makes them really happy!
