FWIW, I like the progression that I see, and the coloring work doesn't seem "drab" (you mentioned wanting "brighter color schemes"). The expression on this character is exceptional, and what I see of the costuming makes it possible for the character to exist anywhere from present to future times. The use of the open collar of this type is more modern than not, when combined with what appears to be a modern T-shirt underneath, and the exposed midriff. Given the expression on the character's face, a "brighter" color scheme might not be advisable anyway; this violet-eyed fellow has an agenda.

To my unskilled eye, I'll say that the left forearm and forepaw seem larger than they ought to be...? I'm not one to ask about perspective -- I haven't had an eye exam in over five years, and I'm probably seeing anything but reality these days. beyond that small (correctable?) point, the rest of the drawing looks good. I would urge you to reconsider, and at the very least, save the character. He's definitely hot. ~_^

It does seem a bit long. The elbow should be lining up with about the bottom of the rib cage, which, in his current pose, would have the elbow lining up with the bottom of his blue over shirt.

I love the way the inking is coming along on this. What program do you use, I'm guessing photoshop, right?
