Shrine of the Old Pantheon, one of the few historical pieces of evidence that remains in the "Haat'Tar" Universe regarding of its past.
From the beginning of time in Haat'Tar, the Pantheon of twelve deities existed. Eleven ruled their aspects of the Universe under the lead of Elion, God of Light and Creation. At some point the Pantheon was relatively happy about Haat'Tar, but few unsolved problems remained. To get proof of concept and not endanger Haat'Tar in the process, the Pantheon created second Universe as an experiment.
It was named "Oreilior". Over several millennia, Gods of the Patheon tried to create the way to process the departed souls of mortals in more fair way, not heavy depended on the deities they worshiped. An idea was proposed - creating "The Great Machine" and enabling "Soul Guidance Grid", omnipresent forced filed that may drag all free (not housed in mortal body) souls to the machine. Goddess of Death and Rebirth clearly opposed to such drastic measures and tried to prevent it from happening. Rest of the Pantheon decided to cast down Goddess of Death and Rebirth, as her services 'won't be needed' if "The Great Machine" can replace her. Kaida, first Celestial Dragon and Messenger of the Pantheon was sent to deal with this problem. Goddess of Death and Rebirth was unable to resist Kaida, who got blessings of all the Pantheon (including her own, given earlier), resulting in horrible situation: reduced in power and form, godhood stripped, voice taken, name and deeds forgotten. Kaida left ex-Goddess of Death in diminished state, with no ability to communicate with other beings. A cursed and forgotten silent witness of the Pantheon's glory.
Was it a lethal mistake, miscalculation or vengeance form ex-Goddess of Death, but experiment with "The Great Machine" failed horribly. Activation was triggered prematurely, "Soul Guidance Grid" dispersing gods themselves. From eleven deities that was in Oreilior, nine perished, two escaped back into Haat'Tar Universe.
As result:
The Pantheon got shattered beyond recovery.
Oreilior Universe was isolated from will of the Gods and their direct influence.
Haat'Tar Universe got into state of unrest and civil war, everyone against everyone. Manifestations of dead Gods will - "Avatars" roaming mad, fighting other Avatars, culling mortals for life force. Priests of different temples blaming each other, launching crusades against rivals. Billions of mortals praying for salvation, that won't arrive in any given future. Laws and decrees left forgotten, bandits and marauders roam the land. Demons and Eldritch beings crawl from dark corners to feast, while Gods are powerless and absent.
Ex-Goddess of Death and Rebirth remained in Haat'Tar in diminished form (The First survivor, black figure on the picture)
Borel'Gor, God of Wisdom and Knowledge lost his mind and became mad, betraying the Pantheon's legacy and siding with Eldritch beings. (The Second survivor, red figure on the picture)
Elion, God of Light and Creation went into hiding, being shocked to the essence by the tragedy and probably used much of his powers to escape. (The Third survivor, empty throne on the picture)
Kaida, Messenger of the Pantheon was awoken in the Hidden Temple to stop the chaos. From the first reports she starts to understand the scale of tragedy that happened... Haat'Tar will never be the same.
