I've been playing enough Pokemon Black & White that I got an itch to do some pokemon fanart. Then I got discouraged, because part of what makes pokemon so fun and exciting are their colors, which I don't do particularly well.

So I decided to try a field-journal-esque type of drawing, with a "realistic" take on the pokemon.

Here, I tried to figure out a purpose to a couple of things. Snivy's tail is pretty obviously a bit of camouflage, designed to mimic leaves, so i tried the same with Snivy's "collar." The end result is a lizard designed to skitter through the undergrowth camouflaged with the leaves on the forest floor.
