When he became an adult, his father chose him to run a caravan between two towns, which was attacked by bandits. He was critically wounded and left for dead, and the last thing he saw was the animated skeleton of a Cervan. When he awakened, his wounds were cured and he had the ability to reanimate dead beasts. However, he was cursed to remain on the forest trails, which he used his time to protect vulnerable travelers. Every 7 years, he is temporarily released from his service, to look for another person to take his place.
