Kirlian (the raúna woman in the back) and raúna species © me
Master Artificer Haidar has a strange visitor, even stranger than that unicorn last year: a pointed-nosed, toothless, hoofless being with a black and white fur. and she has a problem with her backbone. said backbone is made of bronce and a multitude of little mechanics and clockworks and some electric devices; exactly what Haidar is working on all day. often together with his mate Kirlian, who does the aesthetic aspect of artifical limbs and the various clockworks they produce.
meanwhile, their visitor lays down, her back opened, and plays with their pet ku'rau, one of the cats from the southern forests.
A whole day it took for both to repair the backbone's clockworks, and the leather corset that goes with it to hide the strange protrusions. Haidar is still not sure what their purpose is. maybe this backbone was originally made for an entirely different being? wouldn't be the first time someone recycled another one's clockwork limb...

thank you! actually it's an artificer's clockwork shop and such, removeable spines are more of a side-work. only politicians seem to have use for one, anyway.
if it were a human-shaped skull with animal face, a normal harness would have been enough, but it's an animal's head shape, so you need more. I'm still not sure if it's enough, though. :)
my general aim is to make these things, and the critters, as believable as possible. especially when someone wants special scenes for a comission I reach a point where fun becomes work... :P
