The Wittle, Baby Dragon
Goldigony, the green-scaled dragoness, was resting in her bed while reading a picture book when her roomate, Spike, waddled his way back into their shared dorm room.
"Hey, Spike," she more teased than greeted. "I have been reading over our homework and think I learned something really amazing."
Spike, naive to his roomate's true intentions, almost dropped the plush pony and comfort blanket he had brought back with him as he quickly toddled towards his female friend.
"What is it?" he asked eagerly. His emerald-colored eyes seemed to twinkle like polished gemstones as his mint-green colored, ear fins lifted upward to match the ear-to-ear grin that had formed across his face.
Goldigony felt her tail wiggle with anticipation as she did her best to not start laughing before she finished with her joke towards her younger, purple-scaled roomate.
FWIP-FWUP
"Check it out!" she announced as best she could while hanging the book she had been reading down in front of Spike's eyes. "It's your mom!"
"Huh...?" he thought out loud as he followed Goldigony's gesturing hand towards a picture of a mother duck and her ducklings that had words printed underneath it. "...Ducks waddle to get to where they need to go. Mother duck waddles in front of her waddling ducklings..."
FWUMP!
Goldigony flopped down on her tummy as she could no longer hold back her laughter.
"Get it!" she proclaimed as she laughed so hard that she started to breathe short bursts of fire and smoke from her mouth and nose. "You waddle when you walk. Ducks waddle when they walk. You are not a dragon. You are a duck!"
Spike's smile turned into a frown as his ear fins drooped down and his eyes began to well with tears.
"But...," he struggled to say as he tried his best to prevent himself from crying. "I'm a dragon."
Goldigony only continued to laugh.
"This book says you're a duck!" she chuckled as tears formed in her eyes as a result of how funny she thought she was. "Books don't lie. Just ask Twi..."

Goldigony only continued to laugh as Spike ran out the door crying.

"...Spike!" stated Twilight Sparkle as the baby dragon cried into her mane. "You are not a duck!"
"But the book," he sniffled.
The purple-coated Unicorn let out a long sigh.
"The book shows a picture of a duck and her ducklings," she stated while doing her best to not get mad over how the distraught dragon had taken away from her scheduled time to work on her extra credit project. "You don't look like a duck. You don't quack like a duck-"
"-Excuse me, Twilight," Princess Celestia, who was the Alicorn ruler of all Equestria, calmly interjected. "Would it be alright if Spike and I spent some time together?"
The soothing voice of the white-coated pony who had both the wings of a Pegasus and horn of a Unicorn, brought Spike to pull himself out from Twilight's mane to gaze towards the sun princess. His bloodshot eyes showed how long he had been crying after having his feelings hurt by Goldigony.

Princess Celestia used her magic to wrap the baby dragon in a soothing, warm, yellow aura.
"Please continue working on your project, Twilight," she said while securing Spike upon her back. "Rest assured that little, Spikey-Wikey will be all smiles before we start our one-on-one lessons tomorrow morning."
Twilight's deep-purple mane was soaked with tears that had begun to dry and leave patches of salty, knotted hair that made it look as if she had not combed her hair for over a week.
"Thank you, princess," she sighed with relief before using her magic to review a list she had prepared to ensure she earned every last point of extra credit on the assignment she was excited to resume work on.

The soothing, golden aura that Princess Celestia had swaddled Spike into allowed the young, purple-colored dragon to feel good enough to stop crying. By the time he was able to open his emerald-colored eyes and see clearly again was when he realized he was in the middle of having his diaper changed.
"I'm sorry," he sighed as a soft-pink blush appeared on his face. "I didn't mean to have an accident."
"I know, Spike," the sun princess gently replied as she used her magic to throw away the used diaper and wipes. "I'm more worried about how well you and Goldigony are getting along. It's not like you to leave your dorm room after bedtime. Did she say, or do, something that made you feel sad?"

Spike helped to hold up his chubby legs as Princess Celestia used her magic to carefully slip his tail through the tail opening of a fresh, overnight diaper.
"Goldy said my mommy is a duck and not a dragon," he pouted. "She always says such mean things to hurt my feelings."
Princess Celestia remained calm as she used her magic to dab some rash cream on Spike's bottom before gently sprinkling a thin layer of baby powder between his legs and into the inside of the diaper itself.
"I know it is hard sharing a room with Goldigony," she said while gesturing for the baby dragon to let go of his legs. "Every pony knows that you are a dragon, Spike. I never did find your parents all those years ago, but I definitely know a dragon egg when I see one."
"Then why does Goldy think my mommy is a duck?" he asked while Princess Celestia finished securing the fresh diaper around his waist. "Why does she always say what I like is stupid? Why does she try to make me have accidents when I always try to help her use the potty? Why does she always want to play games that give me boo-boos, make me have accidents, and get all dirty?"
The white-coated, Alicorn princess smiled towards Spike before giving him a gentle kiss on the forehead.
"Every creature wants to feel like they are special," she replied before using her magic to swaddle the baby dragon in warmth. "Some just need a friend to help them understand who they really are on the inside."
"Bwah," Spike yawned before rubbing at his tired eyes. "What do you mean, Auntie Celestia?"

Princess Celestia walked the sleepy, baby dragon to the, now, closed door of his shared room with Goldigony.
"We don't want to wake Goldigony," she said softly. "Are you ready for me to teleport you into bed?"
"...," Spike, doing his best to not fall asleep, simply hummed in agreement.

Spike found himself suddenly going from sitting upon Princess Celestia's back to sitting on the rug of the nightlight-lit room he shared with Goldigony.
"Zzz...," the green-scaled dragoness snored as she rested soundly in her bed.
CRINKLE-RUSTLE
The only audible sound made by Spike came from the thick diaper that enveloped his midsection. This, fortunately, was far from enough noise needed to bring Goldigony from whatever dreams she was having.
"Hey," thought Spike as he whispered to himself. "Did Goldy really..."

Spike was initially surprised to see that his plushie pal and comfort blanket had been placed with care next to the pillow on his bed. However, the real surprise came when the sound of his older roommate rolling over in bed brought his drowsy eyes to see something he could not believe he had saw cuddled closely against her body.
"What the...?" he curiously considered as he dared to climb up the ladder that lead to the bed that was directly above his. "Could it be...?
Spike was extra careful as he slowly made his way up to where Goldigony had told him she would beat him into a pulp if she ever saw him ever trying to sneak a peak at her private hoarding space.

"Zzz...," the diaper-clad dragoness continued to snore soundly as her body lifted enough to show her lime-green colored underbelly that had a plushie of a red dragon with a yellow belly being firmly cuddled against it.
"No way," Spike almost said in a voice that would have woken up Goldigony if he did not quickly stop himself from thinking out loud by forcing his mouth shut and putting one of his hands over top of it. However, for Spike, there was no denying that his proud, tough, never wanting to have a thing to do with anything 'cute', or 'pony-like', roomate had a lovey cradled lovingly against her, almost, entirely uncovered body. The smile on her face further added to how Goldigony was the happiest he ever saw her. He never dared to venture near her bed, let alone do such a dangerous thing while the blue-eyed dragoness was asleep, but here he was and what he saw made him start to understand what Princess Celestia was trying to tell him.

Spike felt a smile form across his face as he slid down the ladder before climbing into his bed, snuggling close to his own plushie pal, and wrapping himself up in his blue-colored, comfort blanket.
"Perhaps we are more alike than she thinks we are?" he thought as he started to drift off to sleep.

Aww hehe, well if Spike knew you, he'd know being a duckling is perfectly okay. :3 Duck are great! And so are dragons. But no fun to make of how widdle guy like him walk or behave. Hehe, and even mean tough folks like cute snuggly things like plushes! It's nice to see Spike feeling all better by the end of his journey. :3
Thank you for giving this story a once over, Oxnard. *Snugs* I felt really good about this tale for how it shows that even someone who acts all big and tough has a soft side to them. It can be hard for some folks to let that kinder, friendlier version of themselves out, but it is nice when they do and can show they are more than an image they are trying to project. :)
