The first is fine and if I was looking at that character for RP I'd enjoy it. XD It's just not a great as a quick reference. 100%, the artist you're working with wants you to include an easily digestible sketch if you've got one.
I poked fun at the top one, but they're both great refs.
The bottom just makes a better QUICK ref. It doesn't make it overall better or worse than the other.

I remember yours being really easy to work with because everything I needed was within the viewable space XD
I have three monitors and sometimes I still struggle to parse refs into quickly viewable parts...
I notice it more because I'm working on a timer, I'm sure. If I was vegging out with a commission it wouldn't matter one way or the other. I'm also good at missing details, which is way more likely with the top option unless the client bullet points the easily missed things.
