Both were abandoned as a baby for being born as a lycanthrope, but because Cedar was the incarnate of Cerridwen and destined to destroy her immortal nemesis, Cerridwen's will summoned Cedar into the Shadow Plane to fulfill that destiny before Cedar could have had a real life of their own. Solaris never had to worry about being Cerridwen's incarnate, and thus was able to stay in the Material Plane and be raised by the town of lycanthropes they were sent to.

While Cedar was learning to survive in a realm of darkness, Solaris was taught to be a hero in a realm of light.
