Based on the following dumb joke:
If you take "Protogen", remove the second "o", pronounce the result in a German accent, maybe even replace the first "o" with an "ö", you get something that sounds very similar to "Brötchen", the German word for bread rolls.Protogen >> Prötgen >> Brötchen
This "Prötgen" is subsequently based on, specifically, the Kaisersemmel(Wikipedia: Kaiser roll).
I spent about thrice as long as I wanted to on the lighting, I simply got carried away and might have overdone it. If only my perspective and line art were as good as my lighting appears to be...
I claim no ownership of this character. (As they really are just a meme-character...)

Now that you've pointed it out: Yes, something is very slightly odd with the proportions. Either the arms are a tad too long, or the torso or legs are a tad too short. Can't quite put my finger on it.
Honestly, I'm not sure if in English "bread rolls" are actually truly the same concept as German "Brötchen" (which one may literally translate to "little/cute breads").
Prötgen :D
