It's kinda funny how there's never been a good Godzilla movie

I'd say the original Gojira (not its King of the Monsters cut), Return of Godzilla, GMK and G14 are pretty good and Minus One might be (haven't watched it yet), but there's certainly plenty less-than-stellar entries.

I saw clips of Minus One and I am in shock that it won an Oscar for effects or whatever. It's one of the fakest looking Godzilla movies I've witnessed lol, even worse that it just looks like a guy in a suit with the design. At least G14 looks like a believable creature.

Yeh, the effects in it are certainly not its strongest points.

What about Shin Godzilla? I thought that one was quite good.

I found it pretty ehh due to barely anyone having a personality, and the only exception being a non-stop cringy quote dispenser.

I’m honestly glad we have both a serious Godzilla film and a fun action fest Godzilla film both coming almost near the same time as each other, not to mention it now being 70 years of the king of the monsters. We’re in one heck of a golden age with Godzilla.

I get asked about doing redesigns for the monsters in the Monsterverse entries, especially when a new movie or series comes out, just because I did redesigns of the Kong: Skull Island monsters once. And while I liked the Skull Island cartoon enough to redesign its creatures, this does not apply to The New Empire, as it appears to be the same kind of movie that GvsK was, a movie I regard as terrible.

From what I’ve seen New Empire is gonna be far different from GvK.
Like it’s gonna have more focus on the kaiju, and not just them fighting but a lot of visual storytelling stuff as well, which is honestly fun to see in such a film, which is also probably part of why the cast list is very small compared to before. Like we only have 4 main actors.

Well, I'll see for myself how it is once there is a decent-quality version online. The gripes I had with GvsK (threadbare plot and poorly-written villains) weren't visible in its trailers, either.
