I did this at work with a mechanical penicl in about an hour. I can do way better than this usually but I was in a hurry, and Graphite and I are working on bettering out relationship.

I usually start with the skeleton; IE put the eye-holes in before the eyes, and the nose sans cartilage and the jaw-shape. That and I do basic shapes (as you should) with use of a measuring tool (I use a bamboo skewer bc they're nice, thin and straight) to get my proportions. =/ Thing is, I draw more in a carticature/Fauvist style so nothing comes out hyper-realistic/photo-realistic for me. I could do that if I wanted to, I guess, but I would have to spend a long time on it and I'm really anal about EVERYTHING. x_x
