Yeah I came up with yet another odd alien species. Though this one I plan on using in a more Mass Effect Universe than my own lil alien one. So we'll start off with a Codex entry for his species.

The Merkril are an androgynous species of reptomammals sharing both reptilian and and mammalian features. They are neither warm nor cold blooded exactly. In warm climates the Merkril body produces less heat allowing them to go for extended periods without food and extend the period of time they can go without water. However in colder conditions their bodies produce more heat like a mammal. Also like mammals Merkril are able to sweat to cool themselves when conditions become too hot. They possess mammalian skin with an almost chain mail like series of scales beneath it. Merkril have exceedingly long life spans of up to and even surpassing a thousand years. Merkril history is full of Fallen Kingdoms and Empires. Their society holds strong ties to honor and their history much of which is conflict. However despite their history for conflict throughout the ages they never experienced a global war. Merkril are recent additions to the galactic community having gained an Embassy on the Citadel only 4 centuries ago when they achieved FTL flight and discovered their nearest Mass Relay. Despite their relatively new status the Mrkril stand on equal technological footing with the rest of the Citadel races. Despite the use of Mass Effect technologies for transportation their weapons are typically energy based and often have a Melee component to them. Socially they are a very open species and will readily explain their culture and history to outsiders and expect the same in turn.

Nox is a relatively young Merkril of merely 157 years old. He is barely considered more than a child. That said he already has ambitions of going to the Citadel and has even giving thought to joining C-Sect. He's already quite proficient with their own weapons and has gotten very good with a pistol. But mainly Nox is just curious to head on out into the galaxy to see and meet new people. See the sights. He was one of those kids that asked a lot of questions and had a habit of taking things apart.
