So the outfit system in spore is lacking, so why not use sims 2 on spore? Of course just as a blender render.
imported Spore's planet heightmap for plane to create landscape
then I imported spore creature with a rig, then I imported rigged sims 2 body.
I just assigned all sims 2 rig to creature's bones, before changing the pose, according to rest pose of the creature, so I didn't edit weight paint at all. only the original rigging.
then I used sculpting to fix any seams through clothes.
