Akira Toriyama passed away recently, I heard the news today morning.
I didn't believe it at first, it seemed so surprising and sudden.
Shocked and tired, I wanted to draw something. It's not great or anything.
DragonBall Z was a big part of my childhood, I watched it on TV together with my older brother when we were kids in the 90s/2000s and even our parents watched it with us. Watched DragonBall Classic together with my brother when we were older, and I really enjoyed Super, with Beerus and Whis even becoming some of my fave characters from the whole series.
And I still like all of the series a lot, though it might not be my absolute favourite. Looking at my mangas and my Trunks figure, listening to DB soundtracks today and thinking about what a big impact this series had.
His mangas inspired so many other mangakas and artists in general.
Rest in peace, Toriyama.
I made some other DB fanarts over time, you can see them here if you like:

He brought so many incredible things to the world. I hope his legacy outlives him by several times.
Dragon Ball was a large part of my childhood as well, and I didn't even watch any other types of anime at the time. It had this special mysterious and ethereal feel to it. I suppose with how much context for me has changed I can't get that feeling again watching it, but it was wonderful when I experienced it.

Yes. As a child, many shows felt more special in some way, that often gets lost as we grow older.
But nonetheless, there is no series like DragonBall for me, no other anime or cartoon feels like DB, it's quite unique in its ... "vibe" overall.
I still love to watch the movies, they are as nostalgic as when I was a child, some more, some less.
DB might not be very deep or complex, but it had a deep impact on many people.
Not just DB, even Dr. Slump entertained lots of people, though that show really isn't for me, heh.
