Very similar to the "server mode" I turn on at work.

That joke is more of an email one... I'm pretty good with that, but I had to reread it a couple times to be sure. I can only imagine how flat it would fall in verbal small talk.

You're doing it all wrong. Small talk is supposed to make the other person smile. You say things that flatter them, and then you make your back door escape. At least, that's how I do it.

I was at a club the other night and this chick was bumping up on me. Probably one of the FIRST experiences I've ever had a woman confidently come up and proclaim interest- pathetic, I know.
I panicked a little after dancing, excused myself to the restroom where a friend followed and I my friend for asked some advice.

Me:"Uhm, well, we talked about our jobs and where we lived...kissed a lot..she rubbed up against my crotch....what else should I ask?"
Friend: "I dunno' just make small talk?"
Me: "Like what? *thinks* OH! Should I ask her her feelings on the recent budget cut to NPR?"
Friend: "..........just go fucking dance"
Me: " 8C ...okay"
