Cindy "Singe" Breeze
Born a boy named Cindy, he had a rough life. At first, being the son of one of the best bounty hunters in the country wasn't all that bad, comes fame always follows an equal amount of enemies along the way. His father wasn't home much, usually out on dangerous jobs and coming home with more bullet wounds the young colt could count, which left Cindy home with his mother. It was a relatively peaceful life, they had a few farm animals, a modest plot of land where they could garden and Cindy was happy.
Around the time he was 5, his father came home in tow with the biggest accomplishment of his career: capturing the notorious criminal and bandit leader "The Lady". No one knows her real name, but The Lady had slipped past authorities, causing havoc and spreading terror through the country for years now, so her capture and the end of her reign was a cause of celebration in the small town of Tumbleweed. While Cindy's father was out drinking with friends, he and his mother were home alone, unsuspecting of any threats of danger that loamed overhead. In the dead of night, underlings of The Lady set Cindy's family home ablaze, creating a diversion for them to break out their leader and disappear amongst the chaos. Cindy and his mother were trapped in side as the fire destroyed their home. Cindy woke up a few days later with horrible burns covering half his body, his mother wasn't as lucky...
After Cindy's father left to try track the Lady down, he came back, a bitter and defeated man. He swore he'd never pick up his pistol again and left his posse, retreating back north, near the mountains, to where Singe's grandmother and Aunt still lived. Singe and his father lived in solitude in the forest for many years as Cindy recovered from his injuries, loosing sight in one of his eyes. His father was broken man, taking up jobs near where his family lived to help pay for medical expenses until one day, he just left. Months later a letter arrived with a sum of money, stating that his father found work elsewhere and that Cindy was safer in the care of his grandmother.
Years later and when Cindy was 16, overwhelmed with his desire to see new places then the small town he was confined too, he ran away from home and joined a traveling circus, where he took a new name that was tastelessly suggested to him, Singe. The living conditions were poor and the pay barely put clothes on his back and food in his stomach, but Singe was happy. As the years went by, his confidence grew as well as his sleight of hand and pick-pocketing skills, but in tangent, the living conditions at the circus also worsen. The owner of the circus was a greedy, selfish man who treated his workers like animals and tricked many of them into contracts that they couldn't get out of. As things got worse, the owner's son stepped up and tried to persuade his father to change things for the better, but it was to no avail.. Things only began to escalate when bandits started targeting the circus out of the blue, demanding that the owner pay them a debt that was owed. Not wanting to loose his precious money, the owner decided instead to contract help to get rid of his problem..
And that's when our posse gets involved. After arriving to the scene and being debriefed on what the situation is, the circus was abruptly attacked by the bandits again, burning down one of the tents and then fleeing into the night. After a bit of investigation, and noticing that Singe and the other circus employees weren't too perplexed by the situation, they realized that this must be an inside job. At gun point, Singe brought the posse to the "bandit" camp, only to see that the one orchestrating the whole thing was the boss's son! His plan, to damage the circus to the point that his father will have no choice but to give the rights over to him so that he can turn around and make it a better place for those who live and work there. The posse, moved by his sentiment... and a handful of gold nuggets, were persuaded to help in the scheme.
As the smoke cleared and the scheme went out without a hitch, the posse decided to take their leave to move on to the next town.. but as they were leaving, they discovered a stowaway in their wagon. Singe, after working with the posse of bounty hunters, decided he wanted to join them and travel with them. Reluctant at first because of his lack of survival knowledge, Singe quickly learned the ropes and later became an core member of the team, and close friends with the other posse members, specifically with
BlackbloodQueen's Daniel.
Singe is a fun character because he is impulsive, flirty, witty, good natured and much more laxed then my other characters. He brings a fun dynamic to the group with his always cheerful nature, but secretly very insecure about his place in the posse. People seem to be drawn to him and want to be around him despite his appearance and he has a knack of getting into trouble but things always working out.
Sorry for the huge info dump, Singe is my baby and one of my oldest MLP characters so trying to fit him into this AU was a lot of fun and I hope to draw more art of my freckled bastard more in the future!
