Once Rainbow Dash had finished having her fun with the mask (which involved visiting an old Griffin friend and a pig costume, but we won‘t go any further into it than that), she finally decided to return the mask to Twilight, and have them figure out how to deal with it. Unfortunately, while flying over to Twilight’s house, her mind had not been as focused as it should, full of conflicting thoughts on whether to keep it for herself or to do the right thing.

Her focus had been so off, however, that she didn’t see Derpy Hooves, whom she collided with in the sky, causing the mask to fall out of her satchel and fall down towards Equestria. Down, down it fell, until finally landing in a tree. An APPLE tree, that is.

As Applejack was finishing her harvesting for the night she noticed something odd in the tree’s branches. Seeing that it was loose in the branches, she tried to see if she could shake it down. Her efforts were successful, but at the cost of the mask landing right on her face, just as it became dark enough for its powers to be activated.

Ponyville’s in for a rip-snortin’ good time, tonight!
