I'm sure by the time the forest ranger reaches the lake, it will be too late for him to do anything about it.

If that is a ranger at all Atomic. Think about it. Those ranger/forestry watch towers are designed to be tall enough to overlook things to see above the treeline. That means that watch tower is anywhere from 50 to as much as 120-feet tall and he is just leaping off the railing with no regard to his own safety. Don't care how much of a parkour expert you may be. A drop from 100 feet or higher your odds of surviving it alone while not impossible are still slim, even slimmer he walks away without broken bones.

Other thing we can speculate is his choice of attire. While stylish in its own ninja-like way that is no forest Ranger's uniform. ANother thing to consider is his choice of 'weapon' if you can even call it that. Rangers live in those towers sometimes for weeks or months at a time. Those towers are as much of a private residence as they are a communications relay with their own ham radio and maybe even satellite phone these days. Rangers are typically alone for extended periods of time in these national parks where the nearest road could be over thirty miles away. My point is they are always armed with some form of large-caliber firearm. A rifle and/or a shotgun for emergencies with the wildlife. Not a blowpipe.

I could be wrong, but my money is on that is no ranger and he knows something about what he hears and sees going on around the lake.

it's just a metal pole, so he doesn't even have the luxury of a blowpipe. Pretty sure those cartridges would be too weighty for a mouth to blow any reasonable distance. So, he's going to have to get in close... But you are right, they are darts you're supposed to shoot.

Curious why someone who presumably is a forest ranger would carry around a mere blow pipe with what appear to be tranquilizer darts of some for. Instead of a hunting rifle of some kind at least. Also curious he'd leap off of a 100-foot tall building without a visible parachute or zipline.

Or perhaps he is not a ranger. Certainly not wearing the traditional uniform of one at least. The fact he just leaps off of a tower with no regard to his safety to me presumes some supernatural forces or phenomenon is at play here with him.

If not and he is just a muscular badass that can survive a fall from that high up without breaking something or dying well... methinks he is getting in waaaay over his head lol. There clearly is an outbreak of symbiotes in the forest.

Curious yet is if this new individual may or may not be aware of the shenanigans afoot. Can't imagine their activity is exactly subtle sometimes.

It also has me interested in their big bear friend. With the symbiote outside of his body now I wonder if the effects from being his host reverse or not after leaving your body. Or if their symbiote friend leaves part of himself in others he's infected before. I assume he is actually quite friendly. More interested in sex than confrontation.

Also brings up a fun question if there are more like this symbiote out there in the region.

I can answer a couple of those that (probably) don't spoil anything that isn't already out there.

Glenn had two goops in him, his main, white creature, and this new one - which the white goo referred to as his offspring. So no worries as far as the bear's body goes - he'll still be large.
As for this stranger, I can't really say much without saying anything about what's to come. Suffice it to say, he looks a little raggedy and things aren't as they seem, but you got all that already XD
