I personally never liked the walrus... he was a greedy, manipulative poopy face; but the poem was one of my favorites. One year we had a project on how poems work with a person's memory. We were all required to choose a poem and recited 25 lines of it from memory (with the aid of a copy or extra credit without). And I was a my normal "for spite self" and chose the Walrus and the Carpenter and recited the whole thing from memory (can't do that now... but I had a sneaky grin then)... which is more than 25 lines... lol.
