This is a majestic picture, and a breathtaking display of your creative powers!
The dilapidated state of the statue, the bleak ghostly walls draped with smoke
invoke the themes of the last days of empires, or great cities of old.
Her name is Ozymandia, Queen of Queens.
The sculpture is gorgeous in so many ways,
from its sturdy stability that would please any sculptor
who builds their works to last, to the fine texture of the scales,
the deep sensual shadows caressing the curvaceous figure, enhancing
its volume and the tragic, desperate impression the statue projects.
The missing neck segment, even if its arm hides the metal wiring
supporting the head, is still a powerful point at attracts the eye
and momentarily astonishes the mind. It feels as if the shape of the statue
is held up not by physical laws, but the force of memory and history.
Those strings hanged on the statue seem to be trying to emulate
the jeweled chains that used to decorate the figure in the earlier
age of prosperity. Though poor and simple, they give such a sense
of sad sentimentality to the statue, like someone was trying
to bring back the glory days by paying tribute to this
monument from that time.
Public parks worldwide need more furry and scaly statues like this one.

Thank you very much. This piece funnily enough started as just a photo study from a statue bust I found. When I was done with the exercise, I felt like it could become something more interesting, at first I thought of making it a deer, but then a snake became my choice.
The deer would probably have been easier to do in the end, but having the challenge of drawing every scale was interesting. The background was something that came later, she was going to stand on just a dark background with no features, but I think reading the Divine Comedy recently had an influence on the end result =3

The picture does have a bit of hellish feel to it, yes.
Much obliged for the tour behind the curtains!
It is wonderful that you allow your creative instinct
to guide the creation of your works, while still retaining
a great measure of discipline in your drawing. This way, your creations
can be both full of life and authenticity, and allow for control and adjustment to suit your vision.
