Thursday Prompt - Tales from Ækerin University – Excerpt
For this week's
Thursday_Prompt. I didn't really know what to do for this.
FromTheDead suggested that I do something with Kira since she's such a unique individual and I decided to roll with that. So there's not really anything to do with individuals per say, but that's the connection. It did help me slightly get out of the funk I've been with the big Tales from Ækerin University rewrite I'm in the middle of though. Plus, it gave me the opportunity to rewrite and expand the story that originally showed up in A Rooftop Rendezvous. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/51841047/
For those who have read this series before. This snippet takes place after The Study Group. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54406970/
For those who have never read any of these. The story take place in a fantasy world, but one who's technology has reached the equivalent of modern day. It details the story of a group of students attending the titular Ækerin University, one of the premiere magical universities in the world.

Thanks for the fav. She has no idea the chaos she's about to create. Currently this is sitting about 46 pages into my unified document (and the stuff before that is still growing and is mostly all new). This isn't the first time that Kira's ability has flared up in the story, but probably the most explicit. I'm curious if you know what it is just from this.
I do like me some good sour ales. The local brewery around me just had their 9th anniversary one releases which tasted of dark tart cherries (not too sour). The issue I have with cider, at least where I live, is that it seems hard to get any that are good. A lot of them are too sweet or if they are dry, they are mostly flavorless. The ones I had over the UK though were superb. I just wish I could get them here.
And yes, IPAs deserve a special layer of hell. I just don't understand them and when I got out they comprise at least 50% of all beer choices now. Vile stuff.

Cider quality is very regional. I benefit from the high concentration of orchards in the northeast US. And a lot of them will only sell their best product at the orchard itself.
Case in point, I was at the Angry Orchard HQ recently. Their mass produced stuff is likely too sweet for you. But at the orchard itself they had some truly excellent Basque style ciders and a stellar apple brandy. Plus a more well balanced canned cider they produced for Legoland, interestingly enough.

Angry Orchard was exactly what I was thinking of when it came to "too sweet." That's the easiest one to find around here. There is a more local product, but California isn't really well known for their quality of apples and I'd describe it as kind of boring.
At least (since I actually like beer) the quality of our craft breweries is quite good. My brother-in-law over in New York says that the west cost breweries are far superior to the east coast ones.

The thing with beer is that it is actually a super varied drink. Some taste like bitter piss water (which is actually usually what people are given first), while others taste more malty or like coffee, or chocolate, or sweet raspberries.
Also, I've never tried cigarettes, the smell just turns me way off.
