On a different note, what are your opinions on bringing up, say, Glassdoor reviews and so on.
So for example, if they say "progression is good with us" but if reviews from within the last six suggest otherwise, should that be brought up?
I wouldn't bring up a single review, but only if it is a recurring subject.

Hard nope. Most folks are squeamish to talk about pay early in the process, especially if you are talking to HR. That will come during the offer stage.
Also, glassdoor is good but not perfect information. What is posted may not account for years of exp, specialty, market pressures, etc.
