They can be a more tedious pain to work on (laptops), and their users tend to beat them up over the years a lot more than they do desktops. (I have to keep helping my dad with his)

For sure!! For me with my business the main thing I do with laptops is HDD-SSD upgrades, battery replacements and screen hinge repair from cheap plastic devices. Apple laptops are the most pain to work on because of special screws, glued in batteries and very delicate cables.
