Meet D.I.A., the Dragon Incubation Android!

In a world where dragons have all but gone extinct, with no breeding pairs found left in the wild, engineers and biologists have come together to create DIA, a sentient android with an artificial dragon egg creation module installed in her. Programmed with all known dragon behaviors, instincts, and habits, DIA can take reptilian DNA and combine it with the artificial egg creation DNA, mixing it with replicated dragon DNA (harvested from fossils and corpses during the install process) in order to generate and "lay" an egg! From there she is capable of raising the dragon hatchling in most aspects with one flaw: her chassis is too heavy to support wings, much less flight, meaning she cannot teach the dragonets how to fly.

Research is being done into how this can be resolved.
