Well, Maybe I have just about nothing, but at least I have some certifications for working as a translator or interpreter between spanish and english...
Oh so very very wow™, "The labor markets for entry level jobs in translation and interpretation will be nonexistent in ten years"... Wish they told me that before I went to study for three years... for more than thirty thousand dollars... fuck.
Great, I'm gonna drown under my debts from behind a cash register. that, that is the American dream I've been hearing about. With every day that passes I embrace anarchism even more.

At least you got an adorable snoot hat!
In seriousness, 10 years is an absurdly long time ahead to predict. Best thing is to just focus on what's in front of you. The first year or two after graduation was quite stressful for most people, myself included. But you'll get through it once you catch your footing!

Oh this is my second graduation as the first one landed me on the streets of Medford and eventually into an Amazon FC. The whole reason I went was to just get a career change from dumber choices in younger days. I think I am better equipped but that's no clue.
Moreover the consensus is that it will take 10 years for the market to disappear. Rather its going to be a decade of decline in job availability so its going to start impacting folks as soon as 2 years. It's a gradual decay that is going to exclude entry level jobs first. It's not, I have 10 years to get a job in the field before it closes, it's "The whole market will be gone in 10 years and we will see job cuts in the field as they are replaced by AI starting now".
It's not 10 years for me, it's 10 years for the whole market, my time in the field as an entry level person will be vastly more limited. For most entry levels that could be more easily replaced that time scale is a matter of 2 years.
I am pursuing some backup plans, I am doing all I can to not wind up back at Amazon or back where i was in Medford

Careful what you wish for. In the power vacuum of anarchism, Jeff Bezos will establish his fiefdom, and install Alexa into an army of T-800s. But they won’t wipe out humanity, no, that would be too merciful. Instead, they’ll force us to watch a streaming service filled with shows that are so bad… we’ll wish they were A.I. generated!

Dolores y arrepentimientos...
So sorry to hear you once again wrestle with the of your expensive education
disappearing into thin air. Very valid concerns, and you estimation
that the layoffs will be starting now are sadly realistic.
Unless they slam down a heap of regulations that would cause the AI art
go the way of the cryptocurrency and the NFT's, every CEO would be
rushing to replace as many humans with this hype-tech.
I could tell you that no education is wasted, as it improves you,
and the lens you see the world with, first and foremost,
but as you stated, you have already had a brush
with Retail Hell and near unemployment.
Wishing you well against all odds is everything I can do.
Maybe the market for drekir stuffed toys will blow up in ten years
to compensate for the collective hordes of white-collar workers'
exile into the wilderness, or the AI art will make people
so disgusted, imaginative artists like yourself
will become the new bespoke tailors
raking in millions...
Anyway, your pain is felt and echoed.
And your snoot graduate cap is very charming, for what it's worth.

Well don't get me wrong, I am happy to be able to speak to people in spanish, its formed a lot of genuine friendships! I don't regret that. I would love nothing more than to see AI get regulated but I both have a feeling that won't happen nor will any help for those losing their lines of work.
I will do what I can, hope to avoid retail but at the end of the day I gotta live (cowpoke) so I will find something. I have some backup plans its just this is a bit of a big blow.
I doubt I will rake in millions or really get noticed beyond the (very much larger than ever expected but still smallish) audience that's here. Which at this point I am fine with.
I just want stability to have the financial stability and time to draw the comic.
I am sure I ain't the only one feeling this pain, hopefully something can be made to happen

Not to shame you for your dreams and aspirations, but there are people out there
who would be grateful to even land a retail job good enough to pay the bills,
and who have never gotten anywhere, creatively, and somehow they live.
Ideally, I'd love to see every artist get their comfy prepaid studio
so they could do make out with their muses on the balcony
every starlit night, or whatever it is you artists do
to get yourselves in gear for willing new worlds
into existence, and I've heard the same wish
being expressed over and over here on FA:
"Just let us be and create to our hearts' content!"
But seeing how crestfallen you are over this news,
I just want to point out that, no matter how crummy it gets,
you'll survive, convert your bruises into new resources and resolve,
and get to where you need to be financially, eventually. And whatever happens,
you will carry your creations in your mind, and on public access servers like this one.
Wishing the best for you, and damn those promises of doom!
The ability to plan ahead for more than a few years
is the luxury that is purchased with one's silver spoon,
which most of us weren't born with.
