I remember my old Kendo club, right as I was starting out someone blessed me with a fractured knuckle

I keep hearing all of these horror stories. Not to be a cock, but like. You should be doing air kendo for a while before you even go UP against somebody. Were you wearing the protective kote? Did they use shinai?

Oops, I meant right as I was starting out a practice; I had a fair amount of practice before hand but I misjudged a block against someone who was always intentionally hitting too hard (he was later booted from the club for being too out of control during sparring) and had not put on protective gloves before hand. It was pretty much a mistake on my part since I had neglected to wear my protection but oh well, stuff happens. Since then I always made sure to use a good set of gloves with at least knuckle shield.

What a scary group of people.

I'd hate to run into them at a Vietnamese place in Chinatown last weekend.
