This is a very personal piece that I did as an assignment for my Philosophy: Death and the Meaning of Life course I took this past semester.
The idea was to make something (I chose art) representing some form of death and dying. We had a variety of subjects to choose from, but I chose to draw something for my Grandfather, my Grandaddy, who passed away 7 years ago.
I won't go into too much detail, but my Grandaddy was one of the biggest inspirations in my life. He was the artist in the family, the animal lover, the music lover, the leader of the family and a guide to me.. he was my other Father growing up, and we were very close.
I also chose to incorporate a song into the piece to make it more creative/meaningful. I used Tool's "10,000 Days" because I feel it is a beautiful tribute to a deceased love one, and it provides such an optimistic view on death.
I know this isn't one of my best pictures, but it still means a lot to me. I gave it to my grandmother, my Mimi, for Mother's Day.
I used colored pencils cause I didn't have a navy colored marker.
I'll always love you Grandaddy.
Sorry for the long description.
