This was Eduardo's first encounter with Joey, a close friend of Mina's and one of her guardians. Unknown to Ed, Joey was also the resident werewolf in the woods. Ed and Mina ran into Joey during a full moon. While Mina was aware of what was about to happen, Ed believed he was simply there to introduce himself.

Eduardo walked up to him, hoping to start a conversation before Joey felt a sharp sensation all over his body. Ed jumped back as Joey’s body started thrashing violently to strip himself of his human clothing. Ed tried to run from Joey but was grabbed by Mina to stay put and watch him transform. She had known Joey for years and how he had gotten better at controlling his bestial instincts. She was confident that Joey wouldn’t cause any harm to Ed.

Eduardo couldn’t look away as he saw Joey on the ground changing. His human body slowly and painfully changed into that of a wolf, with dark brown fur creepily growing all over. Ed watched Joey sweat and pant as he strained himself from his transformation. Joey’s tailbone was slowly outgrowing his body, creating a wolf’s tail. Joey’s ears stretched into sharp canine ears while his face painfully contorted into a wolf’s muzzle, baring his monstrous fangs. Inhuman roars and barks came out of Joey’s voice from the pain of his transformation. Ed experienced a flood of emotions that overwhelmed his fight-or-flight response. Fear, concern, anger, and disgust mingled with curiosity, awe, and astonishment. It was simply too much for him to process. Ed's train of thought was abruptly interrupted by a soul-shattering howl from Joey, who had fully transformed into a werewolf. Still being held in place by Mina, Eduardo watched as the werewolf slowly moved towards him snarling louder with each threatening step. Ed couldn’t move, he closed his eyes hoping it was one big nightmare he needed to wake up from, but he could feel Joey’s breath, the vibration of his growls, and Mina’s grip on his hand.

“This is it. I’m dead, am I!?” Ed thought to himself as he braced for the werewolf to go for his jugular…

“So… this is the new blood you were talking about. Right, Mina?” An inhuman voice echoed in Ed's ears, causing him to search for its source.

"Did... did that voice come from... him!?" Ed thought, bewildered.

"Precisely, Joey. I wanted to introduce him to you tonight so he could gain a better understanding of your... unique abilities," Mina said confidently. She looked at Eduardo, whose eyes were still shut tightly. "Ed, open your eyes. That's no way to treat a fellow guardian."

“G-g-guardian?” Ed stuttered as he slowly opened his eyes… only to see the snarling werewolf dead center in his face.

“Hi.” Joey greeted. Ed let out a blood-curdling scream as he landed on the floor while the werewolf started laughing, “Oh Mina, I think we might get along just fine.”

Eduardo, frozen in fear, couldn’t get up. Joey walked towards him and put out his clawed hand. “Here, Let me help you up. I’m not gonna hurt you, kid.” Joey said.

Ed slowly showed his hand towards Joey’s for assistance… before stopping to see his hand changing too! Joey and Mina soon noticed Ed’s face slowly changing as well.

"Oh!" Mina exclaimed, "I think your little demonstration might have triggered his curse, Jo."

"Wait, he's transforming into a werewolf as well?" Joey inquired.

"Nope. Just a dog. He's quite adorable as one too!" Mina replied.

“Oh come on man, not now!” Ed shouted as he prepared for his metamorphosis.

Joey chuckled as the young man transformed, “What do you mean “not now?” Tonight’s a full moon. It's the perfect time for you to change!”
