When M'Ria began learning magic school of Conjuration, things were not going very well for her. Summoning spells either summoned something different or didn't work at all. Sometimes even exploded. They - M'Ria and her mentor - had tried many things: theory study over and over, meditation, transferring control of her mentor's spell to M'Ria, they even went to the College to learn other summoning methods from conjuration experts. Nothing worked. Her limit was tiny wisp, not a ghost sword or bow, not even speak about atronachs.
Then her mentor decided to try the last solution. The Soul Cairn. The plane of Oblivion inhabited by souls and undead. Place so full of soul energy that if summoning doesn’t work there, it won’t work anywhere to her. He intended to go there anyway, but much later, when M'Ria had learned the basics, because of the Ideal Masters, mysterious entities that lord over the Soul Cairn. They can easily decieve unprepared mage, and even masters of arcane art can be tricked by them at the cost of their own soul, so they must be avoided no matter what.
When they finally arrived to the Soul Cairn, M'Ria was so thrilled and worried that she was worthless and couldn't even summon a simple knife, that by the time when her mentor decided to give her another try she already was depressed and unfocused. With last of remaining hope M'Ria prepared the spell intended to summon ghost wolf - one of the easiest conjuration spells. Ethereal flame lit on her palm, seconds of concentration and - moment of truth... The ethereal orb appeared before her, much bigger than it should be, and instead of the wolf spirit an undead horse appeared from the sphere and reared up. Out of surprise and fear, M'Ria fell on her back and prepared to defend herself. Her mentor was there to intervene in case of danger, but it wasn't necessary. The summoned horse stood calmly before M'Ria, looking at her by his ethereal eyes and awaiting orders. M'Ria only now started to realise that she did it! Not the way she intended, but anyway, she did it! With tears of relief she started to laugh. She is not worthless!
Looking at joyful M'Ria, her mentor was glad for her too. Well, that's a start... Now they better finish their business quickly and get out of there before the Masters notice them.
