Rhabdophis rhodomelas.
An attractive little snake that can be rather easily identified due to its unique, bluish neck pattern; this is a species that inhabits Thailands southern parts.
Shamefully, it is one of the many Thai snakes that we know very little about, except for its main prey being mostly frogs and other amphibians. Being a rear-fanged natricid, it possesses a venom which, most surprisingly, turns out to be quite potent. Therefore, it should only be handled with some great caution. Formely Macrophistodon rhodomelas, it was most recently reclassified as a species of the Rhabdophis genus which is probably best known for its members being both vnomous and poisonous.
