It's been a while since I'd posted a 'pluggerism'...
For the uninformed, a 'pluggerism' is an observation of life, as depicted by the cast of the daily newspaper comic "Pluggers" - originally drawn by (the late) Jeff MacNelly, and now drawn by Gary Brookins. Readers of this 'audience participation' strip send in their 'pluggerisms', on all sorts of subjects (politics, sports, hobbies, weight loss, weight gain, etc.).
In this 2007 submission of mine, I had Rob Cat put in a guest appearance (although, had it been used in the syndicated strip, I'm sure an alternate character would've appeared in the bobcat's place). Since I'm now into digital photography, I was reminded of this classic gag about some of the cameras I used to handle in the past (especially my Kodak Instamatic 104 - which had lasted from the early 1970s to the mid-1980s).
If you're interested in sending in any 'pluggerisms' (with or without an accompanying illustration), just to see your name appear in the strip, E-mail them to pluggermail[at]aol.com or 'snail-mail' them to Pluggers, P.O. Box 29347, Henrico, Virginia 23242
Keep 'plugging' away!

Pluggers. The kind of comic that makes Family Circus look intelligent and Rex Morgan look enthralling.
And one of the arch-enemies of The Comics Curmudgeon, apparently:

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion, kodakdisposable. When the strip first debuted in the Philadelphia Inquirer in January, 1993, it would eventually be kicked off the 'comic pages' (later that year) by its readers - who felt that their favorite strip was "Calvin and Hobbes"...
Long story short, "Calvin and Hobbes" eventually came to an end; but "Pluggers" is still around. You can come to your own conclusions (whatever they may be), but if enough readers continue to submit 'pluggerisms', the strip might outlast many other strips that are deemed 'intelligent' and 'enthralling'...

Well, those people tend to be stodgy old sourpusses, which I'm not. And I bet there are a lot of stodgy old sourpusses that hate Pluggers too.
The sucess of a comic strip lies in it not offending anyone, in not too many people hating it, and it being occasionally funny or interesting. The fact that Family Circus remains widespread in many newspapers is testiment to the fact, despite it being about retarded, mellon-headed children saying completely assinine things in a featureless void while their parents over off to the side, wordlessly staring. It's a pretty stupid comic, but not many people want to lynch Billy Keene. Similarly, The Amazing Spiderman is about the tituar Spider Man trying his darndest not to hurt anyone or be hurt, and Beetle Bailey is about lowlife soldiers that seem to be stuck in the Korean War time period. I won't even start on B.C. Point being, staying power has little to do with the quality of a comic strip, and plenty of crappy comics have been around for a very long time. Plus, Bill Waterson stopped writing Calvin and Hobbes for personal reasons, not because anyone was calling for his head.
Anyway, if it's a comic targeted to stodgy old sourpusses, then this may be a case of http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p.....ripheryHatedom

I'm glad you liked this 2007 classic 'pluggerism' of mine. In RL, I had two of my past submissions published in the syndicated strip: one in September, 1994, and one in January, 2007. That's why I'm still sending out more of them to Mr. Brookins, in the hope that I'll see my name in (national) print, again.
Meanwhile, if your local newspaper doesn't carry "Pluggers", you can view daily editions of it over the Internet. Here is one such link:

My family's done a lot with photography over the years. We had Instamatic cameras with flash cubes. My mother had a Kodak "disc" camera for a time, then went on to a Canon AE-1. I struggled with film loading, so I experimented with APS film cartridges. I had a a Canon EOS Rebel G flim SLR for a time, but gave it to Mom when her AE-1 quit. These days, I use a Kodak EasyShare digital point-and-shoot, and that's enough for now =0)
Just a little personal history: The first camera I'd attempted to obtain was a mini-spy camera, available for sending in over 600 Bazooka Joe comics! (Luckily, I didn't have to buy and chew all that bubble gum; Everyone I knew in grade school were first class litterbugs, so I easily picked up the little comics from the ground they'd dropped it on!) Unfortunately, when the camera arrived in my mailbox, it was all busted up! Thus beginning my ongoing disillusionment with the reliability of US Postage Service!
