to answer your question: because, it's not as common as standing on two feet. And I like to show, "strain". It's not my favorite stance, it's just a stance I fall back on when I want to show strain, yet have no other ideas at the time.

Fascinating observation and response. You know what poses always seem 'strained' to me, not counting like weight-lifting exercises and the like? Tai Chi exercises. They're strained, but they're not. It's crazy.

Incredible. You really went wild with this. I'm quite impressed. The dreads are a nice touch, and I like how he's sorta 'growing' out of the sand. The desert is what I consider to be "my spirit's home", the place I feel most at peace and at home. Can't explain it, just is. And Rooth inherited this trait from me. So the idea that he 'grew' out of the desert really hits home. Very sweet.

Also, the leggings on the digitigrade feet are pretty cool in design. It's very rare to see ditigirade feet covered with anything, 'cause it's hard to design something. It's not just a shoe, it's a greave as well.

Thanks also for going back and touching up little things here and there that you caught as flaws. Things I didn't notice or didn't even consider changing. It shows you really had investment in the piece, and a particular image in mind that you wanted to convey. Awfully cool of you. Really helps set you apart from many other artists.
