Kashlanin civilization has been around a very long time; so long, in fact, that although the impulse to acknowledge the Powers and worship the Deities is still there, most temples stand empty. They're still staffed, though, by members of the Ministry for Religious Affairs.

This is a gorlon, or priest, of the state faith, wearing traditional robes the color of blood and holding the symbol of the religion. The axe, or klath, is also the favored weapon for the punishment of traitors. In religious weddings, bride and groom swear their fidelity to the marriage bond over the upturned blade of the axe, because adultery without consent used to be punishable by either death or divorce - the offended party's choice.

This male is obviously rather high up in the hierarchy, based on the amount of silver braid on his robe. He's also a very friendly sort, as you can judge by his welcoming smile.
