Anubi is Ankha's only male friend aside from the human mayor. If you guys are familiar with Ankha's interests in others she's only interested in those that also possess an arrogant, haughty and negative attitude just like her which is meant to showcase her Egyptian authority as a Pharaoh of sorts, wanting tipo be treated as a queen. Think of Anubi as the Squidward of Spongebob except he's more laid-back and expressionless than him, but is still easy to talk to despite anyone never able to hold a conversation with him for very long.

He tags along with Ankha on occasion to help her with her magical task and such after coming to move into the town. He saw the mayor for the first time after Ankha tricked him again into worshipping her and immediately became infatuated with the only human running a non-human town. Just like Ankha, he'll find ways to get close to the mayor or use his unique dark magic to bring him to his house for a long night of "fun". He succeeds in this better than Ankha, but so far Ankha has been stepping in before he gets a chance to.
