Ok SO for context this happened after all of Val's memories came back, and sometime afterwards he tried to do somethin' very drastic, Travis stopped him from doin' said thing. Which left Val severely depressed. Travis not likin' Val like this decided to buy a dog for Val to at least try to help ease things. Travis is genuine and doesn't beat around the bush, and takes things very seriously.
