Paw Fashion 14: 'London' boot
Round two. :) I've worked up a few more designs for all of you at least.
I'm trying something a bit different here, inspired by a boot design I saw in another artists' work and quite liked, so credit where it's due! (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5480471/). Now, for species with plantigrade feet like humans, the whole point of having high heels is that it basically makes the leg act as though it were digitigrade, making the leg appear longer and accenting the its muscles in a manner widely agreed to look attractive. On a species that's already digitigrade it's kind of superfluous to have high heels, at least it certainly isn't necessary. All the same, it seemed like an interesting experiment. The heel gives the boot a sharp and kind of imposing profile, and the noise a heel like this would make on a hard floor has a powerful and intimidating presence to it that most of my other designs couldn't replicate.
I also tried out a new idea for the sole here. The toes are exposed like many of my previous designs, but the sole is extended so the toes rest on it rather than touching the ground. It's another sort of compromise offering the freedom and eye-catching nature of having your toes open, while offering a little more protection from undesirable walking surfaces. This idea came as a suggestion from
chaz-fox, so cheers!
Lastly I decided to give this boot a little extra elegance and personality by adding an ankle chain and a festive color for the footbed.

It's a weird sort of mix, yeah. In some ways heels seem like they'd work -better- on digitigrade legs because they're are already shaped that way, not being forced awkwardly into that position the way heels do to plantigrade legs, so probably more comfortable at least. But at the same time because they're already shaped that way there isn't really a -need- for the heel. As a digitigrade it might actually distribute one's weight a bit more evenly and be more comfortable in that respect too.
Something to experiment with if any of us ever TF into anthros I guess. ;)

A lot of that is just because women seem to get so many more interesting and diverse options in footwear fashion than males do. ;) But I think it's true also, I do like the kind of... sleek, powerful, imposing and sexy look that a lot of more feminine boot designs tend to have. When it comes to actually wearing things I'm generally content with masculine styles, but as long as I'm exploring potential designs for dragon paws it would be a shame to pass up the opportunity to introduce sexy boot designs for dragonesses who want to feel powerful and in control too. ^^
A bit more feminine than I would have thought to choose for myself, but I'll certainly keep that in mind. ^^ Wouldn't object to wearing them certainly... I guess when you're a macro you don't have to worry so much about people teasing you for going against traditional gender roles in fashion!
Maybe with a little change to the heel portion. But this is my favorite for the uncovered yet soled toe section.
The extended sole keeps toes protected from hard things below, yet leaves them uncovered for wiggling and snagging of the occasional micro. As well as ease of access, tucking them between a toe and the insole. :P

*grins* I can see you put a lot of thought into such things. ^^ They are all very good points that I will keep in mind! Especially if I should ever find myself enormous. I'm glad you like this sole design for those reasons, I'll have to see about using it in a few more.
Oh I'm sorry, what? I was staring at the toes again! :V I don't know about "more durable" - technically if you walked around every day without shoes all your life, your feet would be durable as well. As such, Anthro's might wear boots/shoes/sandals for much the same reason as we do - protection and the fact that it allows them to make their feet all the nicer. ^_^
