Awesome picture as always! Still, though, considering how cold it is on Mars, you have to wonder how difficult it would be to use those guns? On a sidenote, if you wanted to show that these guys fly really far, you could show them, claiming Pluto for the nation with some kind of caption or inside joke somewhere saying that Pluto really is a planet
You might be onto something with that Pluto idea. Didn't know how to continue the series of Space Force posters. Venus is nearby, but is Venus. Mercury does not have much going on for a visual picture. The gas giants are more visually interesting but lack an actual "surface". But Pluto could work. Even has that heart like shape on its surface to make it visually interesting.
The way I see it mercury can pretty much have everything you could do with the moon since mercury is actually quite similar to the moon in many ways. Venus is a understandabl problem although I read somewhere that it is believed that above the cloud tops, it might actually be not all that bad, although it would still be quite Hot, even if not unsurvivable. Jupiter could be represented by some kind of low orbit, flyby, or perhaps by going on one of its large moons. Saturn has a rather interesting solution and that and can just be right over the rings but not too close to the point that all of the ice and rocks become individually visible in the rings. Uranus Also can be easily solved by the perspective of one of its moons, and that a group of characters could be planting the American flag, just as the planet Uranus is dominating the mountainous horizon. Neptune could be like that or it could be a picture of a few astronauts, holding something like the flag, while floating in space with a view of the great dark spot in the background behind them. As for Pluto, it could be the characters doing some sort of symbolic, raising of the flag that would signify that even at the edge of what is considered by many to be the classical solar system the influence of the USA is still felt. (even though Pluto isn’t a planet anymore. The fact that almost a century of people were taught this fact means that it still holds a place near and dear, to the hearts of a lot of astronomers.) perhaps what could be a symbolic picture that would illustrate something just beyond the edge of the solar system might be a rendezvous or flyby with one of the voyager space probes outside the solar system, since I think they carry a American flag, and you could have a spaceship, flying by at a respectable distance to the space probe as they might want to allow the voyager spacecraft to continue on its journey throughout space in case a intelligent life form might one day, uncover it and find the golden record contained within. Tell me what you think about those ideas.
Doing Pluto in my opinion would be the first one that should be done because it gains more awareness to this far distant area. Also, if you wanted any captions on the images for the picture, you could have that it would be something like “the first flag raising at base Clyde Tombaugh” or something like that which would be a reference to the American astronomer who in 1930 discovered Pluto. Rather interestingly, he lived long enough to have become involved with the search for objects beyond Pluto. That would eventually lead to Pluto’s demotion from a planet, although he was already dead by the point that happened. I think he died in the 1990s but I’m not sure. Alternatively, either the camp or one designation used, for some thing related to the camp, could be Percival Lovell who was Clyde Tombaugh's mentor and was the person who first started the search for a planet beyond Neptune, which eventually led to the discovery of Pluto after his death by his protégé Clyde, Tombaugh
