"Sometimes I think that I try too hard," Sarge said quietly as he sat down next to Chomby. The two were in what Sarge called his "mindscape", a place where he could personify most anything he needed to in order to work out his own problems. With Chomby, though, the mindscape was different. He didn't have to imagine what Chomby would say, because Chomby would contorl that. It was like talking to a friend.
"That isn't a bad thing, though," Chomby replied.
"Well no, but... I dunno." Sarge relaxed a bit, letting his head press into Chomby's belly. He tried to think of things to say when he noticed Chomby was lifting a hand to press it into Sarge's belly.
"You're doing great, y'know that?" Chomby asked.
"Easier to say than to prove." Sarge rested his hand on Chomby's and sighed. "You're the only person I feel I could talk to about this stuff because..."
"We share a body?" Chomby asked.
"Yeah...." Sarge pressed his head further into Chomby's belly. He could feel his eyes begin to water. "How long have I needed this?"
"Probably how long I've needed it," Chomby chortled. "I'm as big a fan of a soft lad to cuddle with as you are, Sarge. We both certainly fit the bill, but that's because-"
"We share the same body, yeah." Sarge sighed. "And somehow we both have very busy lives. You perform a lot-"
"-and you stream a lot," Chomby finished. "But I'm surprised it all worked out. Before meeting you, I would have given anything to have my own body, so I could be alive and actually do things for myself."
"What changed that?" Sarge asked. "Better yet, why don't you make it happen? You and I both know how-"
"Because I like you, Sarge," Chomby interrupted. "You're so sweet and gentle -- always showing a nurturing side. And most importantly, you're compassionate and kind." chomby looked up at the void of the mindscape and huffed. "You could just as easily burn the jacket, get rid of me completely... but you never do. It's never even crossed your mind."
"I don't want that, though." Sarge grabbed Chomby's hand and squeezed it. "You're soft and friendly and have an aura of safety around you. Makes me wish I could actually hug you."
"But, as for right now, this is how it's gotta be," chomby said, now wrapping his arm around Sarge and squeezing him into a hug. "When you feel that jacket on your body, that's me giving you a hug. Don't ever forget that, okay?"
Sarge felt a tear roll down his cheek, now looking up at the void himself. "Okay, I won't."

A bit of a cathartic piece that also doubles as an offline screen for my Twitch streams. I've always drawn these two being busy or having shenanigans happening to them... so it feels nice to draw them relaxing and happy for a change.
