CW: Declining dog, mention of dogs who have passed

Jax, my family dog who lives with my parents, isn't doing so hot. Unrelated to the onions, she has possibly injured her paw, and also started acting differently after my parents trimmed her nails. She was very off balance and clingy, uneasy unless she was leaning against me or in one of our laps.
Her gums are not pale.

By the time I left last night she was walking close to normally and was drinking. This morning my mom said she is walking and drinking and eating more.

They think she could have been being drama queen because of the nails, but I fear something else is going on. She is very old and we've seen some cognitive decline over the last year.

I'm nervous to leave on a road trip out of town but we have decided to go just not for long, and I'll be checking with my parents each day.

I just have that fear since my fiance had that dream where our 2 other family dogs who have passed on visited Jax. ;o;
